Micah's Favorite Pastime

The Ruth family has really been enjoying the spring! Micah and I have been able to enjoy the great outdoors during the day with occasional walks, visits to see dad, errands, and time out on the back deck. Micah really seems to like being outside. One of his new favorite pastimes is sitting at the front window with me. I crack open the window, we let the breeze hit our faces, and watch the cars go by. Micah loves it!

Snapshots

Boy, have I been dragging my feet in getting more journal entries on here! As a way to catch up, I thought I'd just post some snapshots and give you all some short descriptions about the life and times of the Windy City Ruths. :-)

Mommy and Micah: Domestic Engineers (Today)
Contrary to popular belief, Micah is not lazy. Though at 7 1/2 months he cannot yet crawl, that doesn't mean he is inactive. Just today he helped me with the laundry...see the proof for yourself.

Micah's First Pool Experience (4/13/08)
Over the weekend Scott and I drove up to Wisconsin to get a break from city life. Whenever we stay at a hotel with a swimming pool, we always try to jump in for a quick swim. This time Micah joined us! It was his first hotel and pool experience. He did great in both - slept through the night and gave us a couple naps; enjoyed his time being taken around the pool with mommy and daddy.

Mommy's Birthday (4/8/08)
My 24th birthday recently passed - thanks to all of you who contacted me to wish me well! For the evening, Scott and I went out to eat at a delicious restaurant called "Flat Top Grill" and then topped it off with ice cream from "ColdStone." Fun fact is, that it was basically all free. I had a birthday coupon for both places, so we just had to pay for Scott. As for Micah? He declined both and opted to drink formula instead.

"Uncle" Luke's Birthday (4/6/08)
Our dear friend, Luke, celebrated his birthday two days prior to mine. Scott, Micah and I took him about 40 miles out of the city to "The Pizza Place" which is THE place to get incredible deep dish pizza. Luke introduced us to this little pizza joint by some railroad tracks a few years back. It was only my second time going, yum.

Grandma and Grandpa Sovilla (3/28-4/1/08)
My dad had to come to Chicago for business, so naturally my mother tagged along to see us. Well, let's be honest...she came to see her grandson. What a absolutely wonderful time we had with them! Eating out, playing Scrabble, taking Micah on his first "L" ride (the electric train, Chicago's public transit), talking, going to church, catching up, oohing and awing over Micah, meeting people...Phew! It was a great blessing and encouragement to me.

"Aunties" Leah and Julie's Birthdays (3/24/08)
In college I grew really close to Julie, Leah and Amber. The four of us called ourselves the "Teen Girl Squad" (check out HomeStar Runner's web-site if you don't know who I'm talking about - it's teenage goofiness). For Julie's birthday, her husband, Jeff, drove her for a surprise trip to Chicago. Part of the plan was to eat dinner at our place. Leah also joined in, whose birthday was the following day. We had a great time of food, cake, pie, fellowship, and catching up. Great friends that I will always hold close to my heart. Amber, we missed you all the way in Cali!!

Binky Addict (3/21/08)
My son is so crazy to me sometimes. For 6 whole months of his life he never really took the pacifier. Yet at Good Friday service, he was getting squirmy and loud, so I popped in the paci and he fell in love! It is his new best friend - he can't leave home without it. I figure he likes it because he's teething...

God is good! He has blessed us with a healthy son, wonderful friends and family, a relationship with His Son Jesus, and springtime - Chicago winter has finally passed. :-)
