highlight of my day...

...video chat with sis Rachel, which turned into seeing niece Lillyann's adorable, bright brown eyes...watching sis Diana untangle a round brush from niece Anne's hair...a quick appearance from sis Hannah...and Anne flashing her "crazy eyes"...oh yes, and Rachel's nostril, creeping over the top of her laptop.

Thank you, Lord, for sisters and nieces!!

Can't wait to see you all in Cali sometime...

God's house in Heaven

About a week ago I was talking to Micah about God's house in Heaven, that Jesus is getting ready for those who love and believe in Him.  A couple days ago I stumbled across the verses where Jesus talks about it, so I read them out loud to Micah:

John 14:1-4
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am go."

Micah was avidly listening and then replied, "He's kind to let people in His house."  That struck me.  Yes, Micah is right!  God is super kind to let people in His Heavenly home...

Shortly after reading this to him, we headed to the dining room for breakfast.  As I was praying, he interjected in my prayer, "Thanks for making a house for us, God."  He then added, "And thanks for making us beautiful."

What a privilege it is to witness a child's faith, and even learn from it.

[Hmm, that's right, Jesus talks about childlike faith too! :-) Mark 10:13-16: People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them,“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.]

Coloring...

When Micah colors, he painstakingly tries to stay in between the lines. He could be doing real well, and then all of a sudden get one little, teeny, tiny mark outside the lines and he just flips. He'll get so upset that he'll scribble like a madman over the picture and throw in the towel. He'll either flip to another picture to start again, cry, or just walk away from coloring all together.

P-A-R-T-I-C-U-L-A-R.

Today I picked up a crayon and started coloring a picture. Micah began to watch me. He started calling the shots, saying things like, "don't forget to color that spot...color there too." Then I pulled a fast one on him. I got out of the lines (on purpose of course)! ;-) He jumped on that right away and was trying to come to grips with it. I just kept coloring (and kept going out of the lines). I casually said things like, "oh, that's all right...it'll be fine."

Soon enough he joined in on the coloring session, and, thankfully, the next time he got outside of the lines, he dealt with it better than usual. He coached himself by saying, "oh it's fine...it was just an accident," etc.

What other 3 year old would get bothered by this?  He's a funny one...

Thing 1 and Thing 2

These two are so much better than Dr. Suess book characters! :-) I am SO blessed and thankful. God is good.
