Micah's Big Boy Bed!

This weekend Micah transitioned to a twin sized bed so "baby sister" can have his old bed. He's loving it!

Pre-assembly...

Assembly complete, now we just need mattresses!

All mattressed! ;-) This is the pose Micah gave me when I told him I wanted to take a picture of him on his big boy bed. What a goof, just like his mom and dad...

Micah's "School"

Micah and I have checked out quite a few "going to school" books from the library recently.  He just loves 'em.  Scotty and I are planning to home school, so we may as well get started!  We already read a ton of books, and we've been doing alphabet letters, numbers and colors for awhile now.  Well last night while I was at Girl's Club, Scotty and Micah whipped out the clocks and $ flashcards, and Micah and I looked over them again today.  He's not doing the math equations, but just familiarizing himself with the different coins.  He had fun today naming and placing real coins on top of the flash cards.  We've also put up a few words in his room spelling out different objects.  He enjoys naming each of the letters and then "reading" the word.  Can't wait to tell daddy tonight all about his "school" day.

Your Application “Is Ready For Sale”

Scotty's most recent blog post, thought I'd re-post it here - woo-hoo!!
_________________________________________________

PRAISE THE LORD, I DID IT! After 6 months of development I finally got my app submitted to Apple and APPROVED! It all happened last week. I’ve been a bit quiet on the blog, and on Twitter these days, but that’s because I’ve been busy! Busy fine-tuning my app, busy setting up iTunesConnect, busy learning how to prepare an Xcode project for submission.

I submitted my app last Tuesday night. It was such a great feeling to finally see the words “Waiting for Review”. No matter what happens now, at least I’ve taken that first big step and handed my work over to the critical eye of the app reviewers. I was planning for the review process to take a week or two, so imagine my joy and surprise when I got an email on Friday afternoon that the app was now “In Review”. Ahhh! That means a real person at Apple is putting my work under a microscope right now! Holding my breath, not knowing how long this could take… But then, within a few short hours I got yet another email that said “Your Application is Ready for Sale”.

So my app had only been submitted for 3 days, and only in review for about 6 hours before being accepted! That was WAY quicker than I expected!

Oh man, I can’t tell you how excited I was. I couldn’t help running around the house shouting. It was such a great feeling, like a burden had been lifted. Since it was almost dinner time I took my wonderful wife and son out to dinner to celebrate. My wife Bekah has been a huge encouragement to me through the process, and I can’t thank her enough.

I was so happy that the process went smoothly. But I have to say that a lot of things in iTunesConnect are not obvious. I had to do a lot of prep work to figure out what I needed before officially submitting. I was also afraid of the website timing out in the middle of the process. Seemed a bit short, so I recommend you get all your stuff together first before adding your app. It will make things a little less stressful.

So what now? Well, the app still isn’t for sale yet. I plan to do some more testing and prepare some marketing. I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me still, but I hope to do the product launch in about 2-3 weeks. Sometime in early February. If anyone would like to test an ad-hoc version then just let me know!

Thanks to everyone for everything! I’ll keep you posted as the release draws closer.

Quotable Micah

-The other day we were all running errands. As we were finding a parking spot at a store, Micah energetically told us a quick tale from the back seat, "Run into the store! Grab some lot of things and throw them into your big house!"

-Yesterday Micah and I were goofing off and I was making a funny face, raising my eyebrows up and down. He ran away and then said, "Can you please not let your eyebrows jump?"

-Micah's currently fascinated by growing. He and Scott had a conversation the other day in which Scott explained his path from baby to boy to young man to middle aged man to old man. Today we had our handyman here fixing something, and Micah asked, "Are you going to be an old man?"

-Micah is learning that there are first, middle and last names. He's got baby sister's name down (we've slowing been telling people after announcing it to families on Christmas). When Papa Ruth asked what her last name was going to be he successfully said "Ruth." But when daddy asked the same question a few days later, Micah said her last name was "baby sister."

-At dinner Micah told me, "I like spending time with you."

-Scotty's at a meeting tonight, presenting his app to some fellow developers. When Micah prayed before bed tonight, he prayed, "for daddy showing people his app."

Wintery Walk

Earlier this week Micah and I bundled up and headed outdoors to go for a wintery walk. We came to the park and couldn't help but play for a little bit. Micah had a blast!
