Covered Bridge

This weekend we had a spontaneous family adventure.  The only thing we had planned for it was driving to see a historic covered bridge (it was really cool and really old). :-)  Along the way, the adventure unfolded before us...

Before getting on the highway we found ourselves driving on a street that was having a "Metro Cruise" - oodles of restored automobiles, new spiffy vehicles, and just plain fun cars too.  Micah LOVED it.

Thought of Uncle Tony Ruth when we saw this one.

Took this picture for great grandpa Ruth.

Micah has this in toy size in our garage!
Our destination: Langley Covered Bridge

After we made it to the covered bridge, we were feeling hungry and couldn't quite find a place to pull over.  We asked God for a good spot, and lo and behold, we found a nice park area to eat our packed lunches.  We then had some fun outdoors and examined a neat gazebo and city hall.

Daddy giving Micah's new scooter a try!

On the way home Scotty spotted a McDonald's PlayPlace and Micah had a blast there too (first time experiencing that - he's finally old enough for the jungle gym).

We took the same exit off the highway on the way home to grab some donuts :-) and we got to enjoy the "Metro Cruise" once more.  Our family adventure had turned out to be just what we needed - some time to rest, be together, and discover more of God's world (and some neat automobiles in it)!

Just us :-)

Here are some more pics of the kiddos livin' life.

Micah's long-awaited first bottle feed for baby brother.

Nora and Noah - baby buddies!

Multi-tasking Micah - rocking Noah and doing school.

Micah's phonetic writing. *

Joy's new pal "Boo" the Pomeranian from Papa.

Snacks at home after a walk in the park.

I love his "bird mouth" (can just barely see it here).

New scooter bought with his hard-earned money!

* Translation: "I am Micah.  I am happy.  But Joy is the opposite.  Joy is grumpy." [She was sassin' and fussin' in the next room!]

Narrative in Pictures...

August has proven to be full of growing, learning and having fun.  Here are some snapshots of the tikes loving life. :-)

"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!"
~ Psalm 118:24

Proudly using his new weights he bought with his earned school money!

Micah made Joy a "weight" from TinkerToys

"Spike" - one of his nicknames (especially after bath)!

Waiting for her bedtime bottle to warm up...

Joy currently loves to "culer" (color)

Bumbo's a little snug for Joy...

...ridiculously small (and unnecessary) for Micah...

...and yet still a little too big for Noah.

Holding his head up so well!

I just love these 3!

Filling out!!  Not my scrappy newborn anymore...

It's GO TIME!

My sister Rachel is having surgery tomorrow for endometriosis. Thank you, thank you for your love, support and prayers as this day approached! If you'd be so kind, please keep her in your prayers at 10:30 a.m. (PST) tomorrow (Thursday 8/9/12). :-)

Prayer Requests:
  1. They won't have to do a colon resection.
  2. They get everything, because if they don't the endometriosis will grow back and she'll have to have surgery again in 10 or so years.
  3. Safe travels (to and from SoCal/NorCal).
  4. Zero complications during and after surgery.
Joshua 1:9, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

H2O playtime

The kids and I enjoyed being outdoors today - the park/splash pad, and mini pool at home...
