Auntie Hannah's Snowman

My sister Hannah has been here all week and it has been fab.u.lous. I won't post all stories and pics now, but I had to show the CA family that she is surviving - and even thriving - in the snow. :-)

Family Adventure in the Making...

After church today we decided to "go for a drive" - we weren't quite sure what would unfold before us.  We set our course to drive to a State Park over an hour away, and from there it snowballed into a fun rest stop and visiting our capital city!

Well thank you, Mr. Bear. :-)

This suburb-raised CA girl still gets excited about seeing deer!

Hand dryers - oh the joys of being easily entertained!

Diggin' the tile floor of the 5 Great Lakes.

Oh what fun - chairs. ;-)

Suh-weet Museum - free admission on Sunday to boot!

M loved the replica of the Liberty Bell.

Huge 3D map of Michigan.

Ford's assembly line for the Model T.

J's shirt matched the Corvette!

Army/Navy Room.

Nearly 2-ton "winged" copper piece

Daddy's barber shop

On Saturday Scotty cut M's and N's hair. Both of them look so much older (and still super cute) ;-) with their new crew-cuts.

Pre-cut - super mop top!

Impromptu Science Lesson

While I was getting ready to wash up some dishes today I remembered the older two had left water cups in the van after we got home from church on Sunday.  So I dashed out to the garage to grab them, and wow!  All the water in their cups were frozen solid.  The kids and I had fun trying to melt the ice enough to get the big cup-shaped cubes out.  [Insert science lesson here on how water can be a liquod, solid or gas.] ;-)

Popcorn

This year we're going through a unit study of the United States - each week we focus on a different state and our science, history and geography comes from that given state.  It's been tons of fun; we've been absorbing so many facts about US History, discovering new landmarks, learning how things work, and getting to know so many "friends" of the past.

While studying Indiana, we learned all about popcorn.  So of course we just had to eat popcorn for snack.  The kids (and I) ;-) enjoyed plugging in the air popper and waiting for the kernels to POP!

Measure...

...wait...

...enjoy!
