From a Creamery to a Trip Back in Time

Last Saturday after we slept in and cleaned up, we hit the road for some homemade ice cream (Scotty's been craving the real deal for a while now). The day turned out to be such a lovely family adventure (we just love those)!! The day began at the creamery and petting zoo about an hour away.

Ducklings with down, no feathers yet.

Pony Pal :-)

Chicks!

Double Scoop with a candy face :-)

From milk to ice cream in 2 days - de.lic.ious.
We then stumbled upon this historic village which was so cool - I was seriously geeking out when we entered every building (the one-room schoolhouse especially excited this home school mom).   We were the only visitors that day, which made for a fun and solitary exploration (they have events throughout the summer, so we learned it can get really crowded with people).  It was fun to picture our family back in those days too.

Papa Sovilla's profession.

Seamstress - auntie Sarah could definitely do that.

General Store - Papa Ruth's profession for sure.

We then found a park to eat our packed sandwiches and snacks for dinner. It just happened to be at an historic bridge - suh-weet! So we got to go for a nice stroll before driving back home.

Had to do a selfie to prove I was there!

Taking a breather - lots of walking that day!

Big rocks to climb - random and fun :-)

What started with an ice cream trip turned into a fun-filled, recreational and educational day! God knows how much we enjoy these family adventures, so I give Him the credit for planning this one out so well!! All we had to do was hop in the car. ;-)
